Bigger isn't necessarily better.
Unless you want your living room or bedroom to look like a home cinema, be sure that your flat-screen will blend into the room rather than dominate it. Proportion is everything: there's nothing more off-putting than walking in to a room where the first impression is of a vast television screen. A flat-screen shouldn't automatically take pride of place in a room. Its position needs to be practical and, ideally, you shouldn't have to rearrange your furniture to accommodate the new arrival.
Consider how many people will be watching at a time and how often.
How far away chairs need to be from the screen and how the seating needs to be positioned to prevent necks being craned for a clear view; finally look at the location of windows that may shed unwanted daylight on the screen and any artificial lighting that could reflect on the screen. Then choose a position for the flat-screen that works with your everyday requirements and restrictions. In a smaller room, the best location may be above the fireplace whereas, in a larger room, a separate, cosy viewing corner could be created.
